The  Absence of Others and The Other Side are videos with supporting images that were made about a complicated and protracted political  struggle for identity, memory and cultural traditions in Cyprus in 1974.  After fighting eventually ceased a buffer zone was imposed by the UN  dividing North from South and Sovereign British military bases that are used for international intelligence-gathering and security observation  were established. The buffer zone dividing Cyprus became known as the Green Line, or Dead Zone, an empty deserted and sensory space filled with abandoned homes and personal possessions, haunted memories, absence and loss.

In the Dead Zone Nicosia International Airport lies desolate and eerie, it slowly disintegrates and is a testament to the erasure of cultures and archives of memory.  What is left is a spectre of violence, a Non-Place that exists, but does not exist.
